Two concept drawings I did for Alice in Wonderland. Pencil vs. charcoal. The charcoal piece took about half the time it took to do the pencil one. I like the more messy/expressive line work of the charcoal, too.
Hermobscura is a portmanteau of the spanish words 'hermosura' (beauty) and 'obscura' (gloomy or dark) and represents the approach I take towards most of my work. That is to say that, basically, I try to give it an eerie quality that is still pretty to look at. I am an illustrator living in Atlanta and am addicted to jellybeans (which go bewilderingly well with bourbon).
